Account & Data Deletion
Effective: 10 June 2026
This page tells you how to request deletion of your MarCat account and the personal data associated with it. It applies to all MarCat services operated by Sebretail India Private Limited — including the MarCat Shop consumer app, the MarCat Retailer app, and the web portals at app.marcat.in.
If you have not read our Privacy Policy, please do so first — it explains in detail what data we hold and why.
1. How to request deletion
Send an email to privacy@marcat.in from the email address associated with your MarCat account.
In the email, please include:
- The subject line "Account deletion request".
- Your full name as it appears on your MarCat account.
- The email address, phone number, or Google account ID you used to sign in to MarCat.
- The product you used: MarCat Shop, MarCat Retailer, or both.
- (Optional) The reason for the request — this is not required, but it helps us improve the product.
We acknowledge every deletion request within 2 business days, and we complete deletion within 30 days of acknowledgement, unless one of the legal-retention exceptions below applies.
You can also raise a deletion request from inside the app:
- MarCat Shop — Account → Settings → Delete my account.
- MarCat Retailer — Settings → Account → Request account deletion (this routes to the store owner if you are a cashier; store owners go directly to Sebretail).
2. What gets deleted
When your deletion request is processed, the following data is permanently deleted from MarCat systems:
MarCat Shop (consumer)
- Your account identity (name, email, Google account ID, profile picture).
- Your saved delivery addresses.
- Your saved phone number.
- Your order history older than the legal retention period (see §3).
- Your in-app preferences, cart state, and recently-viewed items.
- Any chat messages you have exchanged with a partnered retailer through MarCat.
MarCat Retailer (business)
- Your cashier / staff profile (name, email, phone, role).
- Your in-app preferences.
- Any audit-log entries that identify you personally, beyond what is required for GST compliance (see §3).
Both
- Any device-identifier records (such as Firebase Cloud Messaging push tokens) linked to your account.
- Any cookies or session data linked to your account on the MarCat web portals.
3. What may be retained (and why)
A small amount of data may be retained after deletion when one of the following applies:
- Indian tax law (GST, Income Tax Act). Invoices, bills, returns, and the customer / supplier metadata they reference must be retained for up to 8 years under Indian law. If your account is associated with such records, we retain only the fields that the law requires; everything else is deleted.
- Pending disputes or chargebacks. If a payment dispute, chargeback, or fraud investigation is open at the time of your request, we retain the relevant records until the matter is resolved.
- Legal holds. If we receive a valid legal order requiring retention, we comply with the order and inform you when the law permits.
- Anonymised analytics. Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics that cannot be re-linked to you may be retained indefinitely.
When the legal retention period ends, the residual data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
4. What happens to data shared with retailers
If you used MarCat Shop to place orders, the partnered retailer who fulfilled those orders holds a copy of order data (your name, delivery address, and the items ordered) on their MarCat Retailer side. Deleting your MarCat account removes the data from MarCat's systems, but the retailer retains their copy for their own records (GST law applies to them too).
You can ask the retailer to delete their copy directly. If they refuse and you believe they are violating Indian data-protection law, you can write to privacy@marcat.in and we will follow up with the retailer.
5. Revoking third-party access without full account deletion
If you do not want to delete your full MarCat account but want to disconnect a specific third-party integration:
- Google Sign-In — go to myaccount.google.com/permissions, find "MarCat", and revoke access. Your MarCat account remains, but you will not be able to sign in via Google any more.
- WhatsApp Business — retailers can revoke MarCat's access to their WhatsApp Business Account from inside the MarCat Retailer app, Settings → Integrations → WhatsApp → Disconnect.
These actions are reversible — you can reconnect later if you change your mind.
